"8 YURAK": Sports on the edge of human capabilities to save lives

"8 YURAK" ("Eight Hearts") is a joint charitable initiative by the EZGU AMAL public foundation and the SUPER SPORT sports community. The project unites extreme sports and compassion to provide real help to children fighting severe diseases.

Eight amateur athletes from Uzbekistan challenge extreme heat, pain, fatigue, and ultimate physical stress on the world's toughest trails. They dedicate every kilometer they conquer to little patients, turning their sports trials into hope for recovery for others.

Challenges from the sands of the Sahara to the bottom of the Aral Sea

The project gained widespread attention in April when the team overcame one of the most exhausting routes in the world — the 40th anniversary ultramarathon Marathon des Sables across the Sahara Desert (270 km).

Today, the project continues! The next stage for "Sakkizta yurak" will be the harsh Aral Ultra marathon — a race across the bottom of the dried-up Aral Sea. Every new start of the team is a massive challenge designed to draw public attention to the problems of pediatric medicine and oncology.

Fundraising goal and our results

Initially, we set an ambitious goal — to raise funds for a specialized pediatric ultrasound machine for the Center for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology. We are thrilled to announce that the medical center was able to successfully resolve this issue and purchase the equipment on its own!

Thanks to the active support of our donors, the team has already managed to raise over 30,000,000 UZS. Since the need for the ultrasound machine has been met, we are redirecting this amount, along with all donations from the Aral Ultra marathon, to other equally critical needs of the National Children's Medical Center.

What will the funds be used for now?

Our main task now is to provide pediatric surgeons with high-precision endoscopic instruments to perform complex and safe surgeries on children. We are currently raising funds to purchase the following three pieces of medical equipment:

• Pediatric HOPKINS® Telescope, 0°, 27017AA, 1 pc. Estimated cost: 32,250,000 — 45,150,000 UZS ($2,500 — $3,500).
  

• Pediatric HOPKINS® Telescope, 30°, 27017BA, 1 pc. Estimated cost: 32,250,000 — 45,150,000 UZS ($2,500 — $3,500).
  

• Pediatric Cystoscope-Urethroscope Sheath 9.5 Fr, 1 pc. Estimated cost: 12,900,000 — 19,350,000 UZS ($1,000 — $1,500).
