In August 2026, Samarkand resident Ravshan Amirov completed a solo cycling journey along one of the most challenging and picturesque routes in Central Asia — the legendary Pamir Highway. The expedition, spanning over 3,000 kilometers, passed through the territory of Tajikistan, the highest motorable mountain pass in the region, Ak-Baital (4,655 m), then through the Kulma Pass into China to the ancient city of Kashgar, after which the route crossed the Pamirs again and concluded in Osh (Kyrgyzstan).
However, the main goal of the journey was neither a sporting achievement nor conquering high-altitude passes. The cycling expedition was entirely dedicated to charity and held in support of the "EZGU AMAL" public charity foundation.
During the expedition, the cyclist published daily photos, videos, and travel notes, sharing insights about the nature of the Pamirs, the culture of Central Asia, and the people he met along the way. The main objective of the project was to draw public attention to the problems of children in need of medical treatment and to inspire people to join the charitable initiative.
The journey took place in a completely autonomous format. The route included high-altitude passes over 4,500 meters, sections with strong winds, sharp temperature changes, and multi-kilometer stretches without any settlements. Every day of the expedition became a serious test of endurance and willpower.
"Every kilometer covered became a symbol of support for children who are fighting for their lives today. And if at least one child gets a chance for recovery thanks to this expedition, then this journey was not in vain," Ravshan Amirov noted following the ride.
The history of the expedition, unique footage, and all completed stages have been saved and are available for viewing on Instagram: instagram.com/ravshan_amirov, as well as on the project's official page @velolife.uz.
